     Gerald (Jerry) A. Spores, 61, of Sparta died Thursday, January 5, 2006 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center, Tomah. He was born on June 23, 1944 in Helena, MT He grew up in Whitefish, MT and moved with his family to Bellingham, WA. He graduated from Bellingham High School in 1962. He attended Squaget Valley College.
     Gerald enlisted in the U.S. Army and served from 1964 until 1997.
     He served his country for three tours in Viet Nam, and received the following: Bronze Service Medal / Army Commendation Medal / Army Good Conduct Medal-2 / Viet Nam Service Medal / National Defense Service Medal-2 / Viet Nam Campaign Medal / Overseas Service Ribbon-6 / Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon-4 / Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal-3 / Expert Infantry Badge / Army Achievement Medal-2 / Army Service Ribbon / Armed Forces Reserve Medal.
     During his career he was particulary proud of earning his Drill Sgt. Hat. At the end of his career he was SGM of the 88th ARCOM out of Fort Snelling and the acting CMS of the 3-3 (Old Guard) out of Fort Snelling.
     He maintained his wonderful sence of humor through his long illness and never complained. He loved his family dearly and he loved his country.

     James Goldsmith searved with A Co 84th EBC during 1965, Qhin Nhon, he was the Past National Commander in Chief of the Veterans of Foreign Wars 2001-2002.  He died October 3, 2009, fron spinal, colon and lung cancer. I was provided this information by  Past National Commander in Chief John Gqesdak 2000-2001, John and I are members in the VFW ,Georgia.     Klim Nessmith  A Co 84th EBC 1969.

AUBURN, MA/VERMONT - James F. "Jimmy" Powers, 66, of West Burke, Vermont, formerly of Auburn, MA died peacefully in his home on Sunday, July 7, 2013. He was born in Worcester, MA on January 29, 1947 to the late Walter J. Powers and Mary G. (Benoit) Barriere. He lived in Auburn where he attended Auburn High School before deploying for Vietnam serving his country proudly with the United States Army. He had worked for more than 20 years as a Machinist for Thermo Electron in Auburn before retiring and moving to Vermont.
James is survived by his devoted wife, Peggy A. (Hummel) Powers; three cherished daughters, Pamela M. D'Alio and husband, Michael of Oxford, Patricia M. Groat and husband, Bryson of Palm Desert, CA and Paula M. Borci of North Oxford; a loving sister, Deborah A. Orsi and husband, David of Auburn; two brothers, Richard R. Powers of Auburn and Frederick T. Powers and wife, Rona of Douglas. He was the deeply loved Papa of Courtney and Michael D'Alio, Anthony and Dani Borci and Brianna Groat. James was also survived by Marie "Nana" Carney; an uncle, aunts and several nieces and nephews.
James enjoyed being outdoors, loved hunting and fishing and spending time with his family. He was an avid collector of Historical Memorabilia. He was a member and past Post Commander of the Chester P. Tuttle American Legion Post in Auburn, a member of the American Legion Post in Island Pond Vermont and a member of the Auburn Elks.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with James' family on Thursday, July 11, 2013 from 4-7 PM in the Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central Street, Auburn. His funeral will be from the funeral home on Friday, July 12, 2013 with a funeral Mass at 10 AM in Saint Joseph's Church, 189 Oxford Street, Auburn. Burial with military honors will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Auburn. Donations in his memory can be made to Veterans Inc., 69 Grove Street, Worcester, MA 01605.
